Yellow fungus initially develops by the presence of moulds (a kind of fungi) within the environment. Yellow fungus, also called mucor septic, may be a mycosis , which as per experts doesn't generally occur in humans but in lizards. Yellow fungus might not start from the lungs but it invades internal organs of the body and affects the whole functioning. But if not detected in time, symptoms can become more severe including pus leakage, sunken eyes, organ failure, slow healing of wounds and necrosis (cells within the living tissues die prematurely).

Till now The only known treatment for yellow fungus is Amphotericin B injection, which is an antifungal drug also getting used to treat black fungus.

Here are some precautions that one must go for protect themselves from yellow fungus: 
- Keep your house and surroundings clean 
- Do not consume stale food 
- Keep the humidity within the room under control. Too much humidity can promote the expansion of the fungus. Try to maintain cross ventilation. 
- COVID-19 patients should start their treatment as soon as possible so that complications like yellow fungus don't arise.

Diet low in sugar, yeast, refined carbohydrates, and mold-containing foods. Probiotics from yogurt, fermented foods, or supplements. Non-prescription antifungals, like oil of oregano, garlic, and grapefruit seed extract. Prescription anti-fungal medications (recommended by some practitioners, but not all).
